  2. Hello,

You can now get verified on forum.

The way it's gonna work is that you can send me a PM with a verification picture. The picture has to contain you and forum name on piece of paper or on your body and your username or my username instead of the website name, if you prefer that.

I need to be able to recognize you in that picture. You need to have some pictures of your self in your gallery so I can compare that picture.

Please note that verification is completely optional and it won't give you any extra features or access. You will have a check mark (as I have now, if you want to look) and verification will only mean that you are who you say you are.

You may not use a fake pictures for verification. If you try to verify your account with a fake picture or someone else picture, or just spam me with fake pictures, you will get Banned!

The pictures that you will send me for verification won't be public

I know, I know. A movie for kids. I get it.

And the stupid snowman is the dumbest on-screen character since Jar Jar Binks.

    BUT---

The score was written for Idina Menzel, who plays the voice of one of the sisters. (Made her bones in Rent and belted out Elphaba in Wicked.)

Idina Menzel rocks and makes the movie worth sitting through.

    Who has seen it?

    Says girls.

Personally I'd rather sit through this stupid sequel to 300 if I wanted to torture myself.

However Rent was a decent play.

    Wicked is awful though ugh.

I believe this is supposed to be about Menzel and her talent, not just the movie.

    Agreed on both counts.

I read and enjoyed the book (Wicked). The play was a mixed bag, but Menzel gave it some redemption. Phenomenal voice.

Anyway, Frozen as a vehicle makes her a phenom for a whole new generation. And because they composed the score with Menzel in mind for the lead, it is quite possibly among the best ever produced in a Disney animated film.

Of course the flick is probably a blockbuster because of the damned snowman...

Also a strong score, though I'd have to say Frozen tops it.

The other thing I would say about Frozen (at risk of drawing the ire of a few who have already admonished me to put reviews somewhere else): one nice aspect of this movie is its self-deprecating departure from the old Cinderella story. It actually pokes fun at the "true love kiss" and "happily ever after" drivel. For the first time, the Disney princesses are women.

Ahh, yes... one of the joys of Mommyhood is being able to watch animated movies... even better is watching your child watch something they find enthralling.

"Frozen" wasn't quite what I expected, as I had read that it was based on "The Snow Queen", but it is one of the most engaging Disney movies I've seen in a while (and I've seen most of them!). Visually, it's gorgeous. It's currently our daughter's fave movie, which is saying a lot, because her faves change as often as her clothes, and "Frozen" came out a few months ago.

I was beyond thrilled that she recognized Menzel's voice (there's ALWAYS music in our house, and I'm a HUGE fan of hers... and she's back on B'way in a brand new musical! And OF COURSE we have tickets! WOO-HOO!).

I think you and I live in the same general vicinity (Snowville, USA)- so you might appreciate (though not NEARLY as much as I did) how the current outdoor tableau inspired my little love to hop up on a snow-covered deck and belt out "Let It Go".:excited: (God, I love that kid!:excited:)

My boys are too young for the movie, but I think it's more of a "girly" flick in many ways, though there's action and humor and bad guys and a giant vicious snow monster as well.

Although there is a love story angle for the younger sister, I appreciated that it wasn't a "princess saved by prince" story, and that it was the love between sisters (minds out of the gutter, all you incest fans!) that ultimately made all things right.

And I despise Jar Jar Binks... but I really don't think Olaf the Snowman is so bad that he belongs in THAT category! And don't tell me your heart didn't skip a beat when he declared "Some people are worth melting for". *sigh*

For other parents: like many Disney movies, there are some emotional moments that may affect younger or sensitive children (what do you MEAN, Bambi's mother died??)- the sisters' parents die, major characters are chased by wolves and the aforementioned snow monster, the older sister is imprisoned, there are some fight scenes, and the older sister inadvertently harms the younger one (who, at one point, appears to be dead)... so consider what your own child can tolerate. It's Disney, so, naturally, there's a happy ending.

    Hakuna Matata! :excited:

One is kindly compelled to urge that you consider whether the expurgation of unsolicited impertinences such as this could be a contributing factor in your having relegated yourself to filthy little porn sites in the fruitless search of friends.

I do not like to discuss my personal life here (apart from the occasional intimation as to professional fields ( computer software (especially application design and language parser design ( with specializations in mutative/adaptive grammars ( as applied to the modeling of neural networks and emergent cognition ))))).

That said, I will allow only that I did not view Frozen alone in a theater full of kids. Moreover, I (i.e., we) also have the soundtrack belting out into the wintry majesty during the daylight hours these days.

Winter is my favorite time of year. I hike and run throughout the winter, and I do ice climbing (free style) and speed climbing (solo alpine style) in upper New England when I can find the time. I wish it could be winter year 'round. (I realize that there still exist places on earth where one could essentially achieve such a lifestyle, but when I suggest it, I am habitually overruled. )

I suppose I have an affinity for the Elsa character, over and above Menzel's brilliant voiceovers.

You could be nicer. That's all.

Nicer to Aesop, and nicer in general.

This is a light thread about a G rated animated musical, and you have to come in with all your scatological filth.

Be nicer. Don't be such a dweeb.

    Sheesh.
