This is now the 4th successive month where the US economy has gained over 200,000 jobs. Although the unemployment rate is distorted by people leaving the labor market, it is still good news that it has fallen to only 6.1%. The employment-population ratio is 59.0%, the first time since 2009 that it has been at or above 59.0%.

So some good news on the US economy. Will you Repugs acknowledge this good news?

 

I'm not a repug nor am I a Republican, but I will acknowledge that it is better news than employment news of the previous six years. But it isn't four consecutive months above 200,000 new jobs, both May and April numbers were revised downward. And the actual unemployment rate is 6.3%, not 6.1% Also, the numbers include 275,000 involuntary part-time jobs.

 

From the BLS report, Oh Unreasoned Voice of XNXX:

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 288,000 in June, and the unemployment
rate declined to 6.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.​

And later:

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for April was revised from +282,000
to +304,000, and the change for May was revised from +217,000 to +224,000. With
these revisions, employment gains in April and May were 29,000 higher than previously
reported.​

Although some of the improvement may have been part time workers, the working wage went up, as you can see from this table.

You are correct, I misspoke, it wasn't April, it was March that was revised to be below 200,000.

BTW, four months includes February, which only had a gain of 139,000.

Magic old boy, you can continue to yap about how the Messiah has turned the corner and the economy is rosy, but the reality is, we're in year 6 of a recession. 6.1% unemployment rate is nothing to crow about, not when it hasn't been below that since 2009.

And of course, we can't forget the debt

I've worked hard and did without for most of my life so my heart goes out to those unfortunate folks. I stand with them in spirit but today I'm enjoying the fruits of my labor. Hopefully they will pull it together and get gainful employment so they can have decent housing, healthcare and groceries.

Why is the market doing so well? Because it's controlled by the fed, with 'zero' interest rates, it forces people to invest in the market because they can't earn anything in fixed income investments. Those who didn't, got left in the dust. The old saying, "don't fight the fed" rings true.

 

But, but, that seems so undemocratic.

So unemployment fell? So what? Those numbers are based on the amount of people still collecting unemployment benefits if people no longer collect they are off the list.

How many of those jobs pay enough for someone to make rent payments on a studio apartment?

We have more people out of work, who have given up looking for work of any kind; plus the method of how unemployment is being measured is changed near-constantly, and that means the economy is improving?
